The view from the top of the vineyard reaches from Dämmerkogel to Kitzeck. The south horizon is at the same time the border to Slovenia and north-west you can even see a 2000m mountain which is called Speik. Originally the ground was part of the regime of Limberg, which has its headquarters 10km far from there in Limberg castle. After several ownership changes in the past 200 years, the ground and a small house on it finally became family property. Back then my parents planted black currant and finally in 1987 the first “Schilcher” plants.

The crop from this 5000m2 vineyard is every year an important part of our classical wine harvest, the “Schilcher Privat”. A special scent in the wine is probably because of this terroir. Sandy silty soil, strict foliage work and grape thinning result in a delicate fruity Schilcher.
